Details

The Access Customer Service Call Center is an extension of the County of San Diego Family Resource Centers (FRCs). Serving residents, providers, and other government agencies with questions or needs related to Family Resource Center programs and services, including providing case management services for existing FRC customers countywide.

The Access Customer Service Call Center is an extension of the County of San Diego Family Resource Centers (FRCs). Serving residents, providers, and other government agencies with questions or needs related to Family Resource Center programs and services, including providing case management services for existing FRC customers countywide. Access customer service representatives are experienced eligibility workers who are trained in CalWORKs, CalFresh, and Medi-Cal programs.

Access assists callers in a number of ways, some of which are listed below

  • Report changes and updates to case information
  • Find out the status of an application or case
  • Request forms, packets, applications
  • Apply for benefits

CalFresh is the largest food program in California and provides an essential hunger safety net. CalFresh is federally mandated and in California, is state-supervised and county-operated.

Description of Services:

CalFresh benefits can help buy nutritious foods for a better diet. CalFresh benefits stretch food budgets, allowing individuals and families to afford nutritious food, including more fruit, vegetables, and other healthy foods. The amount of benefits a household receives is dependent on household size countable income, and monthly expenses, such as housing and utilities. The program issues monthly benefits on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. Food may be purchased at any grocery store or farmers market that accepts EBT cards.

Eligibility:
CalFresh is for people with low-income who meet federal income eligibility rules and want to add to their budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table.

Catholic Charities created the Emergency Food Distribution Network + to distribute food to those in need in a safe, effective, and reliable manner that complies with COVID-19 social distancing requirements.

Individuals and families who need food assistance can request for food assistance by clicking the Click Here To Request Food button below or call 619.323.2841 option 2 to request food.

After an order is placed, someone from Catholic Charities will be contacting the individual who requested the food to confirm their information, when, where, and at what time food will be available for either pick-up or ready for delivery from our partner parish distribution sites.

Additional Information:

By participating in this food assistance program, the individual certifies that they meet set federal income guidelines determined by household size and household income. Please refer to the chart.

Throughout the year, we offer an abundance of fresh vegetables, herbs, fruit, flowers, and eggs at our pay-what-you-can Farm Stand. Our produce is certified organic and always grown with the utmost care for people and the land.

Our produce is certified organic and always grown with the utmost care for people and the land. We use sustainable practices and our farming reflects generations-old Jewish agricultural traditions.

The Farm Stand is open to community members of all backgrounds and identities. Donations are encouraged for farm produce, but no one is turned away for inability to pay. We accept cash, credit, Apple Pay, and CalFresh EBT.

Our pay-what-you-can Farm Stand is a social enterprise that supports our goal to ensure that everyone in the community has fair, equal, and dignified access to local, fresh, seasonal, organic, and sustainably grown food. We offer those in need up to $30 of produce at no-cost through our private check-out system.

Community Christian Service Agency

Our service centers provide emergency and transitional support on a walk-in basis to people in need of assistance. Services include emergency food and clothing and transportation assistance in the form of day passes for medical appointments.

Description of Services:

CCSA was founded in 1972 by seven churches in the local ministerial association and obtained its nonprofit 501C-3 status in 1973. During 50 years of service, CCSA has grown to include 31 member churches in the Clairemont, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, and University City areas of San Diego. CCSA currently has three paid staff members and has utilized hundreds of volunteers to deliver its services. The agency is supported by its member churches, hundreds of individual donors, businesses, small grants, and various fundraising efforts.

Our service centers provide emergency and transitional support on a walk-in basis to people in need of assistance. Services include emergency food and clothing and transportation assistance in the form of day passes for medical appointments. We facilitate clients in obtaining their birth certificate or other emergency needs as evaluated by the agency. We provide layettes to low-income new mothers. Information and resource counseling are available along with limited case management and referrals to shelter and other agencies or sources of help.

Saturday Breakfast

We serve our community a hot breakfast and warm smiles every Saturday at 10 am. No registration needed.

Thursday Food Pantry

Every Thursday from 2-4pm the community can come shop for free staple foods and fresh food. There are no income requirements to receive food. We request some personal information and household relationship information on site to satisfy our funding partners.

Saturday Showers of Blessing

We have showers available every Saturday 8-11 am. Showers are cleaned and sanitized between each guest. As available, guests are offered clean clothing, undergarments, shoes, and haircuts.

Saturday Neighborhood Center

Our Neighborhood Center provides mail service, document storage, and computer access. The Center is open every Saturday 8-11 am, no appointment necessary.

Recovery Groups

We are happy to offer spaces for fellowship and healing. We host recovery groups throughout the week. For current schedule click here.

Wellness Van

Free medical and dental services are usually on site weekly (one week medical, the next dental etc.) through our partner’s wellness van.

Infant care products are provided to families with babies as part of their food package. Items include baby food, formula and diapers, and hygiene items when available.

These markets support local agriculture by participating in an innovative program called Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).

Journey Food Bank

It is our mission to bring compassion to our neighbors by providing food to the community. We have four monthly distributions with a mix of non-perishable items and fresh foods. The Friday distribution is produce only.

The Friday distribution is produce only. Please be in line by the start time and bring your bags. Anyone is welcome, there are no income requirements.

Times & Dates:

First Thursday of the month at 5:30 PM.

Second Friday of the month at 9 AM, produce only.

Third Saturday of the month at 8:30 AM.

Fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 PM.

The mission of the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet, Inc. is to serve as a humanitarian organization providing emergency food, clothing, and other resources to aid individuals and low-income families in Ramona, Santa Ysabel, Julian, Ranchita, Borrego Springs, Warner Springs, and outlying rural areas.

Description of Services: 

The mission of the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet, Inc. is to serve as a humanitarian organization providing emergency food, clothing, and other resources to aid individuals and low-income families in Ramona, Santa Ysabel, Julian, Ranchita, Borrego Springs, Warner Springs, and outlying rural areas.

All of the net profits from the sales of donations go back into the community through community grants, educational scholarships, homeless programs, and emergency assistance. We also offer volunteer opportunities, disaster relief, and a free medical equipment loan program. Grants are awarded to local charitable organizations dedicated to serving the needs of others in challenging situations. We operate on thrift store sales from donations from the community and individual monetary donations.

Donations drive-thru is open 8am-5pm Mon-Fri and 9am-4pm Sat.

Store Hours: Monday-Saturday 9:30am-5pm, Sunday 10am-4pm

The food services are open in the store 9:30am-5pm Mon-Fri.

The Salvation Army offers assistance to those in need through a variety of outreach efforts both in and outside of The Salvation Army Kroc Center. Additionally, The Salvation Army offers a variety of programs, services and assistance both nationally and globally that you may qualify for.

The Salvation Army offers assistance to those in need through a variety of outreach efforts both in and outside of The Salvation Army Kroc Center. Additionally, The Salvation Army offers a variety of programs, services and assistance both nationally and globally that you may qualify for.

Learn about The Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center provides emergency services to individuals, families and seniors in need who meet eligibility requirements.  Services include monthly food distribution, diapers, hygiene kits, feminine hygiene, resume review, parenting classes referrals,  partial generous scholarships to Kroc programs and more.  Emergency services are restricted to those in the Kroc Center’s service area (zip codes 91941-91946, 92105, 92115, 92119, 92120, 92182). San Diego residents outside of this service area can request emergency assistance through their local Salvation Army. All will need to provide identification, proof of all sources of income, and a utility bill for all individuals in their household.

For housing resources (shelter, rental assistance, motel vouchers), furniture vouchers, and cash aide please visit 211SanDiego.org or call 211 for access to a 24-hour confidential and comprehensive community database. 

The 211 database,  also includes services provided by other Salvation Army’s including shelter and the Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Eligibility:

The following documents are required for all members living in the residence (including roommates, extended family and non-family members):

  • Identification for all members of the household
  • Photo ID required for all adults
  • Shot records or birth certificates for anyone in your household under 18
  • Monthly current gross income for all members of the household (most recent tax return documents preferred, one month’s pay stubs, TANF/Calworks Notice of Action, child support statement, Social Security benefits statement, disability incomes, educational class schedule verification/financial aid statement, cash aid, student loans, college financial aid, food stamps award letter, unemployment benefits statement, alimony, child support income, Section 8 rent portion letter, etc.) Attach all household income verification documents to your completed application.
  • Address verification (a recent utility bill such as water, gas/electricity, internet, or trash bill)
