Launched in 2016 as the premier program of our Mobile Operations of Dignity (MOD) Squad, our Fresh Start Showers is a two-shower mobile trailer that provides access to safe shower facilities and basic hygiene resources for people experiencing homelessness in San Diego County.

Our Process

Our Fresh Start Showers events can provide up to 24 showers on a first-come, first-serve basis (ID is not required). Every guest receives a toiletry kit and bath towel to use during their 15 minutes in a private shower unit (or 30 minutes for seniors, people with mobility restrictions, or families with minors). Our shower events also serve as a resource hub as we offer services on-site, such as food, ID vouchers, or haircuts, for guests to access while utilizing our shower services.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

To ensure the safety of our guests during the COVID-19 pandemic, we installed brand new air filtration and automated sanitation systems—courtesy of the University of San Diego—in each unit that ventilate the space every 1-2 minutes and disinfect every surface within 30-60 seconds after every shower. Masks are also recommended for guests and required for all volunteers and staff on-site.
